I vaguely remember a time (a long, long time ago) when I said I would never be caught dead wearing open-toed booties.  Eventually I saw the light.  Now I'm kicking myself for not buying these in black way back when.

This is the second addition to my crop top repertoire.  At $9.99, its a safe way to try this fleeting trend.  It's definitely getting less and less intimidating each time I wear one.  Maybe by the time crop tops are completely out of style again I'll be 100% comfortable in them. 

Sequins and Plaid and Leopard

I applaud whoever it was at Topshop that decided to throw some sequins on a plaid skirt.  It's like, instant year- round wearability in a sequin pencil skirt, one of the most seasonal items a girl can own.  Topshop just GETS it (sometimes).

This bag is everything.  No, literally - it's an evening clutch but came with this handy removable chain strap and also fit my (mom size) wallet, keys and phone in it, so it works for day too.  Jessica Alba agrees with me, see?

I've mentioned my love for 70's inspired fashion a few times, and this (ten dollar!!) kaftan is exactly the kind of thing I love about that era.  It's easy, bohemian, and a little ethnic-inspired, except the neon trim makes it current.  The salesperson mentioned that people were using it as a swimsuit cover-up.  I suppose it would work for that purpose too, but I like it better as a throw-on-and-go dress.

It was hard for me to find a denim vest that didn't look like I was attending a 90's costume party.  Then I saw this one and it was a done deal.   It's still denim but it's really soft and the light wash and motorcycle style zips make it a little more current.   It's a nice alternative to a chambray shirt (a trend I'm getting pretty sick of, give it a rest chambray).

I'd like to introduce you to my new favorite shoes.  I think they kind of pull together all the slouchiness going on in this outfit, enough so that I was able to get away with this at work.  A little nod to menswear with the vest and pleated pants, but the blouse kept things girly.  The subdued colors of this outfit also made it a little more office appropriate in spite of the casual silhouette.
