Coping

Shirt: H&M
Pants: Jamison, old (also worn here)
Belt: Cole Haan, old
Bag: DVF
Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs

Guys, the amount of shi* going on right now is unreal.  The last thing I've been able to think about is what to wear to work, since we've sold our house and are moving to L.A. in three freaking weeks! I need to find us a place to live (like, YESTERDAY), pack my whole house, schedule movers, find a daycare for my kids, say goodbye to so many people, and keep working (yes! working!) through it all.  My hubby says I'm like a duck - calm on the surface and paddling like hell underneath.  In such situations, high waisted pants are reliably easy and almost look like you tried a bit.  I didn't, believe me.  But I'll be back to it soon, I hope.

Shirt: Abercrombie
Dress: ASOS (also worn here and here)
Bag: DVF
Sunglasses: Ray Ban

In the end I chickened out and didn't wear the shoes to work - I wore flats instead, to keep a lower profile (pun intended).  But, if I were the boss, and it was my office, these would be totally fine.

Blazer: Mango
Shirt: J. Crew
Shorts: Jaspal (also worn here)
Shoes: Tory Burch

Still technically violating office dress code with these, but IMO, I totally made up for it by wearing a blazer and button down.

Work basics

Top: American Eagle (also worn here)
Skirt: Zara (also worn here and here)
Shoes: Sigerson Morrison
Clutch: Louis Vuitton
Sunglasses: Chanel
Rings: H&M

Just trying to get through the week in some tried and true pieces.  I find it much easier to dress for work in the Fall and Winter.  Probably because Spring fashion = cheerful whereas work = not.  I'll try harder next time.

Leather for Spring

Thursday, April 3, 2014

Top: J. Crew
Shoes: Elizabeth & James
Clutch: Coach
Sunglasses: Ray Ban

I guess a spring color can make a winter fabric seasonally appropriate.  I wonder if this works for fur. Or wool.  Or shearling.

One of a kind

Jacket: Bebe, old
Shirt: Equipment
Pants: Forever 21, old
Shoes: Zara
Sunglasses: Marc Jacobs
Bag: Chanel

The thing about leather is the older it gets, the better it gets.  Take this jacket for example.  I got it about 8 years ago (my husband took pity on me when I was a broke law student and bought it for me, so there's some sentimental value here too).  Over time it's gotten stained, stretched, and the color has even changed a bit.  What that really means is, no one else in the world has a jacket quite like this.  In today's world of mass-produced fast fashion, that's saying something.
