This jacket has been on heavy rotation lately because of the weirdo fall weather we've been having.  Looking for another khaki version, but somehow I don't think I'll wear that color as much as the gray.  It's my new favorite neutral.  In fact, I can't remember the last time I wore ANYTHING khaki, which is kind of surprising considering I worked at The Gap for so long in high school.  Anyway, I think it's just because this particular jacket the right color and length for me.  I also find the no-sleeves thing  useful - less restrictive but still adds a layer of warmth.

At first glance, this is just a white shirt.  I probably passed by it like 4 times while wandering around the Sunset Plaza H&M the other day.  Then all of a sudden, I caught a glimpse of the back and was like hold up wait a minute, GIMME.  When you turn around its a big party in the back.  Capes in general don't seem to be going anywhere soon.

I actually wore this outfit to my hubby's birthday brunch at the Mondrian last weekend, and fit right in with the hotel's white trendy decor.  As much as I love the Mondrian L.A. for it's beautiful views and ambience, I'm just going to put it out there and say that everything else about the hotel is mediocre (except maybe the rooms? haven't seen them so can't comment).  Our server, although sweet, was hungover from the night before and moving at a snail's pace.  Sitting next to us was a table full of ex Real Housewives stars, who had all been kicked off their respective shows for just being lame/assholes/whatever.  Jordan Knight was there (not sure why) and as much as I worshipped him and the rest of NKOTB in the early 90's, I think he's doing like, dinner cruises these days.  And, our food was fine, but how hard is it really to fuck up breakfast?  I actually am impressed by places that knock breakfast out of the park and make me remember it - now that's pretty hard.  Good thing we were also too tired and hung over to really react to all of this mediocrity, due to a certain epic birthday celebration that ended at Chateau Marmont the night before.

We finally made it to see Gone Girl (loved it!) after my poorly planned attempt failed a few weeks ago, and this is what I wore.  No science to it, except that I wanted to layer due to the chilly weather,  (without looking too eager about it) and I wanted to wear these Gucci boots I invested in years ago and barely get to wear every year.  I adore them, although a black pair may have been more complimentary here.   I'm not about that matchy-matchy life anyway.

White dresses are hard.  They can look super slutty or completely prudish if you make the wrong choice in cut and fabric.  And they are almost always see-through to some degree.  Until I found this one, my only other white dress was this one, which I rarely ever wear because it's see through and is technically a maternity dress (I was having a food baby at brunch that day so I wore it, ok?).

This one is pretty much perfect - thick knit material that doesn't require undergarments beyond the norm, and my favorite length lately.  Not too tight, but not too precious, and definitely makes a bold I-follow-fashion-and-you-just-don't-get-it-because-you-are-basic-but-you-will-when-you-see-that-shit-in-9-out-of-10-mall-stores kind of statement (I know my fellow fashionistas will feel me on that one).

We've all done it - buy the same thing in multiple colors.  This cape blazer from Nastygal is so on point (in price AND style) both colors had to be mine.  It has absolutely nothing in common with the rest of this flowy and polite pastel getup, but that's kind of my modus operandi.

20 years ago I wouldn't have been caught dead in anything even remotely resembling Birkenstocks.   They are so ugly and do such terrible things to the aesthetic of your feet, that I am only willing to spend $25 dollars on the trend.  We all know it's not going to last.  However, there is something to be said about the kind of laissez-faire attitude behind Birkenstocks and the hippies who invented them, and THAT is exactly why I'm into them at the moment.  They are cool because they don't give a fuck.  Plus they are metallic with studs, and I'm definitely not one to turn down an obnoxious metallic studded accessory.
