It gets hard to dress up for the holidays without looking cliche or stupid for wearing skimpy shit that is inappropriate for cold weather.  I guess that's just what the season demands, but I think putting a leather jacket on over pretty much any holiday getup will make you look less seasonal and more timeless.  I've written about this one before (see here) and it just continues to be a bonus that every time I wear it, it brings back some awesome memories.

Lots of rain here in L.A. this week, like Florida-style storms without the lightning and thunder.  It's been so weird to wake up to rain pouring - that hasn't happened since we moved here in June.  It was much needed though, because L.A. was getting dusty.  Much like these leggings that haven't been worn since earlier this year.  I pulled them out to wear for our family photos but changed into my leather pants at the last minute.  As much as I love the sequins, I thought perhaps, 10 or 15 years down the road, I'd look back and have a "what was I thinking" moment.  Future regrets aside, I'll definitely be wearing this outfit somewhere, soon.

This skirt brings my bedazzled-clothing count up to the double digits.  I'm sure that amount of sequins in a single wardrobe is absolutely unnecessary in life (well, in mine, anyway), but I couldn't just leave it there marked down to 80% off.  I was in the right place at the right time.  Don't judge me.  P.S. I wore this to a wedding.  Again, no judging.

So I took it upon myself to alter this top a bit because it just wasn't hanging right on me.  It went from frumptastic to (in my opinion) a more elegant and easy-fitting tunic in about 10 snips.  Cutting sequined items of clothing isn't for the faint of heart; but luckily it worked out for me this time.

I wore the crap out of this Rebecca Taylor white button down; so much so that I can no longer wear it on its own.  There are like 6 buttons missing and it may or may not be one size too small for me now, but that collar still looks brand new.  That's my favorite part about the shirt anyway, so, it stays.

Next time an article of clothing you own starts to get really played out, take a page from J. Crew's book and bedazzle it.  A little artfully placed bling can do wonders for almost anything; even the refusing-to-die chambray shirt.

I applaud whoever it was at Topshop that decided to throw some sequins on a plaid skirt.  It's like, instant year- round wearability in a sequin pencil skirt, one of the most seasonal items a girl can own.  Topshop just GETS it (sometimes).
